Welcome to Cosmos Next. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

1. Location Data

We use your device's location to provide accurate astronomical data for your area.

Used for: Night sky visualization, constellation positioning, planet visibility, rise/set times
Your location is processed in real time and never stored or transmitted to our servers
You can disable location in your device Settings at any time

2. Camera Access

Required for AR features (AR Night Sky, AR Constellations, AR Planet Exploration).

Camera data is processed locally on your device only
No images or video are stored or transmitted by the app
When you share AR screenshots, sharing is user-initiated via your device's share sheet

3. Device Sensors

Accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass data for AR orientation and sky positioning. All sensor data is processed locally and not stored.

4. Local Storage

Quiz scores, achievements, learning progress, app preferences, favorites, and observation logs are stored on your device only. This data is not transmitted to any server.

5. AI Sky Guide (Optional)

When you enable the AI Sky Guide and add your own API key, the app may send to Anthropic's servers:

Your questions and conversation history
Sky context (date/time, approximate location, moon phase, visible planets) to personalize answers

This feature is optional. You control it via Settings. Anthropic's privacy policy: anthropic.com/legal/privacy

6. Crash Reporting (Optional)

When enabled, we use Sentry to collect crash reports. This may include device model, OS version, app version, and error details. Used solely to improve app stability. Sentry privacy policy

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to:

Provide accurate astronomical data for your location
Enable AR features with proper positioning
Track your personal learning progress (locally)
Customize your app experience
Improve app functionality and fix crashes

We do NOT:

Sell your data to third parties
Use your data for advertising
Share your location with anyone
Store camera images or recordings

We do not integrate advertising or analytics that track users for marketing.

Data Storage

All personal data (quiz progress, achievements, favorites, preferences) is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. If you uninstall the app, all local data is deleted.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data (view in app Settings)
Delete your data (clear app data or uninstall)
Disable permissions (in device Settings)
Opt out of location and AI features (in app Settings)

Children's Privacy

Cosmos Next is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. All data processing is local to the device, and we do not create user accounts or profiles.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you by posting the updated policy in the app. We advise you to review it periodically.
